The basic four-week course is a prerequisite for the advanced course.
You will build another western saddle that you will take home with you. This training will be all hands-on work and you will enhance and reinforce the skills you previously learned. Several of the new procedures you will be taught are as follows:
Silver-lacing techniques for rope-edge saddles.
Laying out silver patterns.
Selecting silver pieces and learning to manufacture your own pieces when nothing is available commercially to fill your needs.
Laying out tooling patterns to include border tooling and floral tooling and incorporating them into an overall design. (If a student wants to learn overall tooling of all the leather, this will be taught; however the student has to be willing to put in extra long hours to complete this in four weeks.)
The result of applying these new techniques will be not only a show saddle but a functioning work saddle.
The fee for this four-week course is $5,250 due at the beginning of the course and non-refundable. As this is a working shop with many customers, I need to book your spot thirty days in advance, please.
